Commodore Sarvdeep Singh Dhody Takes Command of INS Kalinga, Naval Station Bheemunipatnam
Commodore Sarvdeep Singh Dhody has taken over command of INS Kalinga and assumed charge as Station Commander, Naval Station Bheemunipatnam, succeeding Commodore Anirudha Roy at a formal Change of Command Ceremony held at INS Kalinga on 10 August 2026.
The ceremony formally transferred responsibility for the establishment’s functioning to Commodore Dhody, placing him in charge of its operational readiness, administration and overall management. The handover marks a leadership transition at one of the Indian Navy’s important establishments on the eastern seaboard.
Commodore Dhody is a specialist in Radio Frequency (RF) Design and brings with him broad experience across operational, technical and training appointments. Over the course of his career, he has handled a range of responsibilities linked to naval operations, technology and personnel development, experience that will now inform his leadership of INS Kalinga and Naval Station Bheemunipatnam.
In his new role, he will be responsible for ensuring that the establishment remains prepared to meet operational requirements while maintaining effective administrative systems. His charge includes aligning personnel and resources with the Indian Navy’s broader mission needs, while sustaining the standards expected of the station.
INS Kalinga supports the Navy’s operational and technical requirements on the eastern seaboard and carries out a mix of preparedness, training, administrative and support functions that are central to sustaining naval readiness. The command therefore carries both operational and organisational significance, with the station playing a continuing role in maintaining the service’s professional and technical standards.
Commodore Dhody assumes command at a time when continuity in readiness, technical competence and efficient administration remains central to the functioning of such naval establishments. His appointment brings with it the responsibility of preserving the systems already in place while working to further improve operational efficiency and professional preparedness within the station.
The event also marked the end of Commodore Anirudha Roy’s tenure as Station Commander. The transition follows the Indian Navy’s established practice of orderly change in command, ensuring continuity in leadership and accountability as responsibilities pass from one officer to another.
With Commodore Sarvdeep Singh Dhody now in command, INS Kalinga and Naval Station Bheemunipatnam will continue their focus on operational readiness, technical capability and administrative efficiency in support of the Indian Navy’s mission.
