Commander Sudhanshu Bhardwaj Takes Command of INS Jatayu at Lakshadweep
On November 27, 2025, a formal ceremony took place at Minicoy Island in Lakshadweep to mark the change of command for INS Jatayu. Commander Vrat Baghel handed over the leadership to Commander Sudhanshu Bhardwaj, with the event attended by the officers and sailors of the naval base.

Having been commissioned earlier this year, INS Jatayu serves a crucial strategic role in the Lakshadweep archipelago, significantly boosting the Indian Navy's operational capabilities in the Arabian Sea. Positioned at Minicoy, the base facilitates quick responses to maritime situations, enhances surveillance of essential sea lanes, and fortifies the Navy's presence along the Western seaboard.

With Commander Bhardwaj assuming command, there is an anticipation of further improvements in the base's operational performance, as well as enhanced support for regional maritime security efforts.

This leadership transition highlights the Navy's ongoing commitment to strengthening its forward deployment capabilities and ensuring the security of India's island territories.
