Command Hospital Lucknow Hosts Pan-AFMS Hand Sanitization Event, Celebrates Century of Military Nursing Service
Command Hospital (CC) Lucknow organized an extensive Hand Sanitization Exercise at Shivam Lawns, aligning with a broader initiative by the Pan Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) to emphasize preventive healthcare and infection control measures.
This event played a role in a nationwide attempt to set a record for the Largest Hand Sanitization Exercise by Defence Personnel, held throughout India with support from the Indian Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records. It also marked the centennial celebrations of the Military Nursing Service, celebrating a hundred years of dedicated nursing care.

In the event, 512 participants comprising uniformed personnel and civilian staff from the Tri-Services—encompassing medical and nursing staff and cadets—demonstrated the six-step hand sanitization technique as per WHO guidelines using alcohol-based hand rubs, underscoring compliance with standardized infection prevention protocols.
Brigadier Vikas Srivastava, who serves as Deputy Commandant of Command Hospital (CC) Lucknow, was present and underscored the essential nature of hand hygiene within healthcare systems. He stressed that maintaining rigorous infection control practices is vital to ensuring patient safety and achieving clinical excellence.

This synchronized effort demonstrated the AFMS's dedication to patient safety, professional competence, and preventive health care, while also contributing to a significant national and Asian record and honoring the longstanding tradition of the Military Nursing Service.
