Command Hospital Central Command Conducts Landmark Paediatric Cochlear Implant Surgery
Command Hospital Central Command has reached a significant milestone by successfully conducting its inaugural paediatric cochlear implant surgery on July 8, 2026. This achievement represents a substantial advancement in specialised hearing care for children.
The hospital's ENT team performed the procedure on a child aged two years and five months, who was diagnosed with profound sensorineural hearing loss. The surgery is anticipated to greatly enhance the child's speech, language, and communication capabilities, thereby improving their overall quality of life.
This accomplishment comes in the wake of the establishment of the Centre for Audio Vestibular Therapy: Early Assessment and Rehabilitation, known as COCHLEA. This pioneering facility was created in alignment with the objectives of the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Deafness.
The successful surgery highlights Command Hospital Central Command's expanding expertise in comprehensive cochlear implant care. It also underscores the hospital's dedication to providing world-class medical treatment through innovation, specialised clinical capabilities, and compassionate patient care.
This milestone is indicative of the Indian Army's ongoing efforts to enhance advanced healthcare services and provide state-of-the-art medical solutions to service members, veterans, and their families.
