COAS General Upendra Dwivedi Recognizes Veteran Naik Gourang Nayak with Prestigious Award

During his visit to the Army Air Defence College, General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff, honored Naik Gourang Nayak (Retd) with the esteemed ‘Veteran Achievers Award’.

This accolade acknowledges Naik Nayak’s outstanding contributions to nation-building and youth empowerment after he concluded his military service.

Originating from the remote Koraput region in Odisha, Gourang Nayak has been at the forefront of youth development programs in isolated areas. His initiatives have motivated and encouraged local youth to integrate into society positively and pursue careers in the armed forces and security services.

His Youth Academy has guided many young individuals, resulting in 32 students successfully joining the Army, CAPF, and police forces, demonstrating the significant impact of his grassroots initiatives.

General Dwivedi praised Nayak’s commitment, emphasizing that national service transcends active duty, with veterans continuing to play a crucial role in societal development and national fortification.

The award highlights the Indian Army’s profound respect for its veterans and their lasting influence, supporting the belief that “Service is a lifelong journey” in the path towards a stronger and more unified India.
