CME Cadets Engage in Educational Exchange at Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre, Belagavi
Cadets from Pune's College of Military Engineering (CME) embarked on an educational and training exposure trip to the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) in Belagavi from March 11 to 14, 2026.

The group, consisting of one officer, one non-commissioned officer, and 39 cadets, was offered a glimpse into the regimental legacy, traditions, and training principles of the Maratha Light Infantry.
Throughout their stay, the cadets had the chance to engage with the Commandant of the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre, where they gained insights into the regiment’s historical background, its operational duties, and the standards of its training. The itinerary included tours of essential training facilities, such as the Commando Wing and the Rashtriya Military School (RMS) in Belagavi, allowing cadets to observe diverse elements of military training and leadership development.

A notable aspect of the visit was white water rafting on the Kali River in Dandeli, an adventure activity designed to foster teamwork, endurance, and confidence among the cadets.
The cadets also participated in local sightseeing, which strengthened camaraderie and provided educational experiences outside the traditional classroom setting.

In conclusion, the four-day visit offered an enriching combination of learning, adventure, and exposure to regimental heritage, providing the CME cadets with invaluable insights into the traditions and operational culture of one of the Indian Army’s prestigious infantry regiments.
