China Conducts Inaugural Trilateral Meeting with Bangladesh and Pakistan in Kunming

China convened the first trilateral meeting involving Vice Foreign Ministers and Foreign Secretaries from China, Bangladesh, and Pakistan in Kunming, Yunnan Province. The discussions featured Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, Bangladeshi Acting Foreign Secretary Ruhul Alam Siddique, and Pakistani Additional Secretary for Asia Pacific Imran Ahmed Siddiqui. Additionally, Pakistani Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch joined the initial segment through a video link.
Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong reaffirmed China's dedication to forging a future shared with neighboring countries, highlighting Bangladesh and Pakistan as significant partners in the Belt and Road Initiative and integral members of the Global South. He stressed the shared necessity for peace, stability, and national renewal throughout the region.
The participating nations engaged in thorough discussions to enhance trilateral cooperation, guided by the principles of neighborliness, mutual trust, openness, and shared development. The collaboration aims to stimulate economic growth and improve living standards in their respective countries.
The parties agreed to investigate collaborative projects in various sectors, including industry, trade, maritime affairs, water resources, climate change, agriculture, human resources, think tanks, health, education, culture, and youth engagement. A trilateral working group will be established to ensure the implementation of the meeting's results.
All countries reiterated that their partnership is based on genuine multilateralism and open regionalism, with no intentions directed against any third party.
During his visit to Kunming, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong also conducted bilateral meetings with the Bangladeshi and Pakistani representatives and met with Mr. Haji Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Acting Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan's interim government, exemplifying China's strategic diplomatic initiatives in the region.
