Central Air Command Holds 2025 Aerospace Safety Seminar Focused on Cognitive Factors at Agra
The Central Air Command (CAC) held its Annual Aerospace Safety Seminar and Council Meeting (AASCM) 2025 at the Air Force Station in Agra, focusing on the theme "Role of Cognitive Factors in Enhancing Aerospace Safety."
Air Marshal Makarand Bhaskar Ranade, AVSM, VM, Director General (Inspection and Safety) of the Indian Air Force, chaired the seminar, which included participation from field commanders, Aerospace Safety officers from all CAC airbases, the Chief Manager of Flight Operations and Safety from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), a Colonel from Army Aviation (HQ Central Command), as well as numerous online delegates from across the CAC's Area of Responsibility.
Delivering the keynote address, Air Marshal P.V. Shivanand, AVSM, VM, Senior Air Staff Officer at HQ Central Air Command, stressed the significance of fostering a proactive safety culture and ongoing human-factor training to maintain operational excellence.
Air Commodore Vinay Pratap Singh, VM, Air Commodore Aerospace Safety, Directorate of Aerospace Safety, Air HQ, together with Group Captain Yogendra Dhankar, Command Aerospace Safety and Inspection Officer at HQ CAC, presented a detailed review and analysis of aerospace safety trends.
The seminar included three in-depth technical sessions that explored themes such as Mindfulness, the Impact of Human Factors in Aircraft Maintenance, and the Evolving Cognitive Roles of Pilots. These sessions were aimed at highlighting how cognitive awareness can improve both flight and maintenance safety.
Concluding the seminar, Air Marshal Ranade highlighted the need for effective use of cognitive and psychological factors to minimize human error and reinforce the Indian Air Force's dedication to achieving zero-accident operations.
