CDS General NS Raja Subramani's Inaugural Visit to Western Air Command Focuses on Joint Operations and Innovation

Chief of Defence Staff General NS Raja Subramani made his first official visit to the Western Air Command headquarters, engaging with senior leadership and officers of the Indian Air Force to deliberate on the future direction of India's military transformation.

Upon arrival, General Subramani was welcomed by Air Marshal George Thomas, the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Air Command. He received a briefing on the command's operational duties, readiness levels, and current initiatives aimed at enhancing capabilities.

In his address to the officers, General Subramani emphasized the transformative impact of Jointness, Atmanirbharta (self-reliance), and Innovation — collectively referred to as JAI — which he identified as essential elements for developing a modern, integrated, and future-ready military.

The significance of joint operations and inter-service coordination was stressed by the CDS, highlighting their increasing importance in tackling emerging security challenges. He pointed out that a strengthened synergy among the Army, Navy, and Air Force is crucial for enhancing India's defense readiness and operational capability.

General Subramani reiterated the importance of self-reliance in defense and emphasized accelerating the development of indigenous capabilities and technological innovation, in line with the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. He urged for ongoing efforts to harness domestic expertise and innovation to lessen reliance on foreign defense technologies.

Additionally, the CDS identified Human Resource Capital as the ultimate force multiplier, underscoring that the strength, professionalism, and adaptability of military personnel are fundamental to combat effectiveness. He highlighted the need for investment in leadership development, training, and skill enhancement to prepare the Armed Forces for future operational scenarios.

The visit underscored the emphasis on jointness, technological progress, and self-reliance as pivotal components of India's military modernization efforts. It reaffirmed the dedication of the Armed Forces to establishing an integrated and capable defense force ready to address the challenges of a changing security environment.
