Capt Gyan Prakash Himanshu and Ashish Kumar Top Advanced Gunnery Course at School of Artillery Devlali

The Advanced Gunnery Course at the School of Artillery, Devlali, concluded on September 21, 2026, with officers from the Indian Army, the Border Security Force and friendly foreign countries completing the specialised training programme.

The course brought together Indian Army artillery officers, one officer from the Border Security Force (BSF), and seven officers from the armed forces of Nepal and Sri Lanka. Their participation reflected the School of Artillery’s continuing role in strengthening professional military cooperation and facilitating the exchange of artillery expertise with friendly nations.

Lt Gen NS Sarna, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, Commandant, School of Artillery, felicitated the award winners during the course culmination and congratulated the officers on successfully completing the demanding programme.

Capt Gyan Prakash Himanshu and Capt Ashish Kumar were jointly declared First in Order of Merit for their performance in the Advanced Gunnery Course.

Among the foreign participants, Maj Chakra Awasthi of the Nepal Army secured the top position.

The Advanced Gunnery Course is designed to sharpen professional expertise in artillery gunnery and prepare officers to effectively employ modern artillery systems and firepower in contemporary operational environments. The inclusion of officers from the BSF, Nepal and Sri Lanka also created an opportunity for professional interaction and the sharing of military experience.
