Brothers from Himachal Pradesh Retire Together from Indian Army After 30 and 26 Years of Duty

In a rare and inspiring moment, two brothers from Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur district retired from the Indian Army on the very same day, marking the continuation of a proud family tradition of military service.
On May 2, Subedar Sansar Chand concluded an illustrious career spanning 30 years, while his younger brother, Havildar Kamaldev, retired after 26 years of dedicated service. Both hailing from Bharnot village, the siblings were given an emotional farewell upon their return home, surrounded by family, fellow villagers, and well-wishers who came together to honor their contribution.
The ceremony was charged with pride and emotion as the village celebrated not just the brothers’ retirement, but also the family’s unmatched devotion to the armed forces. Their grandfather and father had also donned the Army uniform, and now the next generation carries the legacy forward, with their nephew actively serving the nation.

With four generations in uniform, the family stands as a symbol of sacrifice, discipline, and patriotism deeply ingrained in India’s rural heartlands. Villagers lauded the brothers for their selfless service and hailed the family as a true example of devotion to the motherland.
As the two soldiers step into civilian life, their story serves as a reminder of the countless silent guardians who have dedicated their lives to the nation, passing down values of courage and commitment from one generation to the next.
