BLF Initiates Extensive Assault 'Operation Baam' on Government Installations in Balochistan

The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has initiated a significant offensive against Pakistani state forces, targeting numerous government and military sites throughout Balochistan. Named "Operation Baam" or "Dawn," these coordinated attacks took place late Tuesday and represent one of the largest insurgent campaigns in the volatile province in recent years.
Preliminary reports indicate that at least 17 sites were attacked across the districts of Panjgur, Surab, Kech, and Kharan. These assaults reportedly disrupted communication networks, caused damage to administrative structures, and targeted military checkpoints. Although the Pakistani government has yet to provide a comprehensive damage report, local sources verified extensive disruptions in several affected areas.

In a statement, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch described the operation as marking a new phase in the Baloch national resistance. He claimed that the attacks extended from the Makran coast to the Koh-e-Suleman mountains, showcasing the group’s broad operational capability.
“The resistance has entered a new phase,” Major Gwahram stated. “Operation Baam is intended to demonstrate that Baloch fighters can conduct large-scale, coordinated strikes over a vast area.”
He further asserted that the attacks were designed to inflict both human and material losses on Pakistani security forces, although specific casualty numbers remain unconfirmed and unverified.
This offensive highlights ongoing tensions in Balochistan, where issues such as political marginalization, resource exploitation, and a heavy military presence have fueled armed resistance for decades. The BLF, a key separatist group, has intermittently attacked the Pakistani state, but the scale of Operation Baam indicates a more organized and assertive insurgency.
By Wednesday morning, Pakistani security forces had commenced search operations in the affected districts. Communication networks continue to face partial disruption in Kech and Panjgur, and no official statements have been made regarding arrests or fatalities.
The BLF has announced plans to release more detailed information on the results of Operation Baam upon the mission's completion. In the meantime, this offensive has once again brought attention to the precarious security situation in Balochistan and the ongoing challenge the insurgency poses to Islamabad’s control over the resource-rich region.
