Assam Rifles Holds Orientation Programme for New Officers at Shillong Headquarters

The Assam Rifles, recognized as India's oldest paramilitary organization, hosted an Orientation Programme for officers newly assigned to its ranks at the Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles (DGAR) in Laitkor, Shillong. This event was designed to acquaint the officers with the structure, ethos, operational duties, and welfare programs of the Force.

Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, the Director General Assam Rifles, attended the programme and engaged with the newly appointed officers, imparting his strategic vision for the Force. During his speech, Lt Gen Lakhera highlighted the significance of professionalism, leadership, and dedication to national security. He encouraged the officers to maintain the rich traditions, discipline, and core values that characterize the “Sentinels of the North East.”

The officers participated in interactive sessions and briefings that provided insight into the diverse roles of the Assam Rifles, including counter-insurgency operations, border management, humanitarian aid, and community development efforts throughout the North-Eastern region.

This initiative demonstrated the Force’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that newly posted officers integrate smoothly into their roles, with a comprehensive understanding of operational practices and welfare measures, thereby enhancing overall efficiency and morale.
