Assam Rifles Felicitates New Commissioned Officers from Manipur

A special ceremony was held on June 25 at the Mantripukhri Garrison in Imphal by the Assam Rifles to honor nine newly commissioned officers from Manipur. These individuals, who have joined the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and the Assam Rifles, represent a significant accomplishment for the northeastern state, which is known for its notable contributions to the nation's armed forces.

Among the officers commissioned on June 14, six are former students of Sainik School Imphal, and one began his career as a recruit in the Assam Rifles nearly 20 years ago. The event was led by Major General Ravroop Singh, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South), who commended the officers' commitment and recognized the sacrifices made by their families.

Out of these nine officers, four have joined the Gorkha Rifles, two have been commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery, and one each has joined the Grenadiers, Assam Rifles, and the Indian Air Force. Flying Officer Mayanglambam Lucky Singh, who was commissioned from the Air Force Academy in Dundigal, Telangana, was noted for his inspiring journey, being the son of an autorickshaw driver and a homemaker.

Assistant Commandant Hingba Graceson R. received special commendation for his remarkable path. He began as a recruit in the Assam Rifles in 2005 and has now achieved the rank of officer within the same organization, demonstrating remarkable perseverance and commitment.

The list of newly commissioned officers includes Lt. A. Naoten Meitei, Lt. Naoba Meitei, Lt. Ronendro Angam, and Lt. G. Ambrose Panmei with the Gorkha Rifles. Lt. M. Denish Singh and Lt. Thokchom Siddharth Singh have joined the Grenadiers and the Regiment of Artillery, respectively, with Lt. Meghnath Soibam also entering the Regiment of Artillery.

The event underscored Manipur's increasing representation in the defense sector, with Major General Singh highlighting that the state’s youth are among the leading individuals from the northeastern region entering the ranks of officers. He expressed that the accomplishments of these officers would serve as motivation for younger generations and affirm Manipur’s position as a significant contributor to India’s defense forces.
