Army Naik Wagh Ambades Found Hanging at Sunjwan Camp in Jammu; Police Probe Alleged Suicide

Jammu: A 45-year-old Army soldier was found hanging inside a shed at the Sunjwan camp in the Channi Himmat area of Jammu on Sunday, officials said, in an incident that is being probed by police. The soldier has been identified as Naik Wagh Ambades, a resident of Maharashtra.

According to the Press Trust of India (PTI), officials said the soldier allegedly died by suicide. The body was taken to the Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu, for postmortem and other legal formalities. Police have begun inquest proceedings to determine the circumstances that led to the death, while the motive was not immediately known.

A separate report by News Vibes of India, citing police, identified him as Naik (Tradesman) Wagh Ambades of Buldhana district in Maharashtra and said he was found dead in an open shed at the Sunjwan camp in the early hours of Sunday. The report said a team from Channi Himmat police station reached the spot and shifted the body to GMC Jammu, but did not state a cause of death and noted that further details were awaited.

No official statement from the Army had been issued at the time of the agency reports regarding the soldier’s unit, length of service or next of kin. The exact cause of death and the surrounding circumstances will be determined through the police inquest and postmortem examination.
