Officials reported the deployment of several Army units to assist in rescuing stranded families and transporting the injured to medical facilities. The Army utilized Dhruv helicopters to airlift 15 injured individuals from Ghatti to a hospital in Pathankot, Punjab.

The Rising Star Corps troops are collaborating with the police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and local residents to deliver emergency aid, including food and medical assistance, to those affected by the disaster.

Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma, who is overseeing the relief operations, confirmed the fatalities and noted that connectivity issues are complicating the relief efforts.

“Heavy rainfall has caused significant damage in Kathua, and unfortunately, seven lives have been lost. We are ensuring essential supplies reach people, with air support being arranged where road access is cut off,” he stated.

The authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant as the region continues to experience heavy rainfall.
