Army Chief Warns of Potential ‘Operation Sindoor 2.0’; Praises Women Soldiers as Exemplary Leaders

General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of the Army Staff, has indicated that Operation Sindoor 1.0 is currently on pause, but warned that “Operation Sindoor 2.0 could happen anytime.” He emphasized that the Indian Army is fully prepared to act decisively whenever the need arises. This statement was made during his visit to Pithoragarh.

During his visit, the Army Chief engaged in comprehensive discussions with officers at the Army Brigade Headquarters. He then attended a ceremony at the Pithoragarh football ground, honoring soldiers and ex-servicemen for their outstanding service. General Dwivedi also took the opportunity to interact with troops and veterans, addressing their concerns and focusing on key welfare issues.

‘Army Always at the Forefront of Nation-Building’

General Dwivedi highlighted the critical role of the Army in nation-building and providing humanitarian assistance. He noted that the Army consistently supports the populace during natural disasters and emergencies. He referenced the rescue operations in Tharali, Uttarakhand, and relief efforts during the Amarnath cloudburst as prime examples of the Army’s unwavering dedication beyond combat operations.

‘Be the Kind of Leader Everyone Can Follow’

The General called on soldiers to lead by setting an example, emphasizing the significance of physical fitness, mental resilience, and technical skills. He encouraged soldiers to pursue activities that align with their strengths, whether they be fitness, adventure, gaming, or innovation, to remain adaptable and motivated.

He also highlighted the principle of equality in training, stating that the physical tests for both male and female soldiers are now identical. He praised the increasing presence of women in the Army, remarking, “Women soldiers embody the spirit of Goddess Kali — fierce, powerful, and compassionate. Their inner strength will forge them into exceptional leaders,” which garnered enthusiastic applause from the audience.

‘Every Veteran’s Issue Will Be Addressed’

In response to veterans' concerns, General Dwivedi announced the creation of the 50th ‘Naman Station,’ a comprehensive welfare facility for ex-servicemen. He assured that issues related to pensions, loans, and healthcare are being addressed systematically. Additionally, he revealed the launch of a telemedicine service to provide veterans nationwide with accessible medical consultations.

Furthermore, he mentioned that representatives from central, state, and district soldier boards were recently summoned to Delhi to present their concerns directly to Army Headquarters, aiming for quicker resolution and improved policy coordination.

Upcoming Visit to Adi Kailash

General Dwivedi is set to visit Jyolingkang (Adi Kailash), near the India-China border, on Sunday. During his visit, he will meet with troops stationed at high-altitude forward posts, extend Diwali greetings, and work to boost their morale before heading to Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, through Nainisaini Airport.

The Army Chief’s trip to Pithoragarh underscored not only the Army’s readiness for operations and its commitment to the nation but also his vision for a modern, inclusive, and people-focused Indian Army, prepared to tackle challenges ranging from military engagements to nation-building efforts.
