Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi Participates in Push-Up Challenge with Specially-Abled Athlete at Shauryaveer Run

In a touching display of inclusion and leadership, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi participated in a push-up challenge with a specially-abled athlete during the Shauryaveer Run for India event on October 26. This event was organized to celebrate the 79th anniversary of Shaurya Diwas, which honors the Indian Army's crucial role in the accession of Jammu & Kashmir to India in 1947.

A video capturing the moment went viral, showing General Dwivedi doing push-ups alongside Anurag Rawat, a cerebral palsy athlete from Uttarakhand, amid enthusiastic cheers from the crowd. The Army Chief's spontaneous act has been praised widely as a gesture of empathy and motivation, highlighting the Army's dedication to inclusivity.

The Shauryaveer Run, a collaborative effort by the Indian Armed Forces and RED FM, attracted thousands of participants, including soldiers, veterans, youth, and civilians. The event was a tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of India's soldiers.

Shaurya Diwas, observed annually on October 27, commemorates the day in 1947 when Indian troops arrived in Srinagar to fend off tribal invaders, thereby securing Jammu and Kashmir for India. This year's celebration also supported the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, aiming to promote fitness, unity, and national pride.

The 2025 edition of the run saw significant participation from various age groups and abilities, reinforcing the belief that courage, resilience, and patriotism go beyond physical limitations.
