Army Chief Commends Railways' Timely Assistance in Operation Sindoor, Recognizes 16 Officers

Chief of Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, has expressed appreciation for the Indian Railways' prompt and coordinated support during Operation Sindoor. He praised the swift mobilization efforts that played a crucial role in enhancing operational readiness.

In a letter addressed to Railway Board Chairman and CEO Satish Kumar, General Dwivedi noted the rapid deployment of a rake for transporting ammunition from the Central Ammunition Depot in Pulgaon, Maharashtra. This was accomplished within 24 hours of the Army's request, which he hailed as a new standard in military-civil cooperation and mutual trust.

General Dwivedi emphasized that Indian Railways has consistently supported the Indian Army during national emergencies, a commitment reaffirmed during Operation Sindoor. His message, dated August 14, 2025, underscored the strength of this partnership.

In addition to commending the overall efforts of Indian Railways, General Dwivedi recognized 16 officers for their key roles in facilitating troop and logistics movements.

Zonal Leaders Afzal Karim Shamsi (North Western Railway), Madhukar Roat (Northern Railway), Rajesh Kumar Mandal (Northeast Frontier Railway)

General Dwivedi conveyed his best wishes to Indian Railways, highlighting its collaboration with the Army as vital to national preparedness.

In a statement to The Times of India, Dilip Kumar, Executive Director of Information & Publicity at the Railway Board, stated, "This recognition not only underscores the operational readiness of Indian Railways but also strengthens the bond of civil-military collaboration in times of national requirement."
