Amit Shah Addresses Future Armed Forces Leaders at National Defence Academy Visit

Union Home Minister Amit Shah today visited the National Defence Academy (NDA), where he addressed the future leaders of India's military. His visit was marked by traditional ceremonies, significant discussions, and a strong emphasis on national service and resilience.
In his speech delivered at the NDA's grand halls, Shah underscored the essential role cadets play in safeguarding India's sovereignty and ensuring its territorial integrity. He commended their dedication, discipline, and patriotism, urging them to uphold the ideals of courage, unity, and selfless service.

The event also featured a ceremonial presentation of a commemorative plaque to Shah by senior military officials, symbolizing the lasting collaboration between India’s civilian leadership and its defense forces.
Shah's visit coincided with a significant milestone for the academy, following the graduation of the first group of 17 female cadets during the 148th passing-out parade on May 29, 2025. This event marks a notable shift in the NDA's history, reflecting broader efforts towards gender inclusion and modernization in the Indian Armed Forces.

Established on December 7, 1954, the NDA remains the world’s first tri-service military academy, training cadets from the Army, Navy, and Air Force. With 18 squadrons and an increasing number of cadets each year, the academy continues to be a cornerstone of military leadership development.
During his address, Shah mentioned the recent Operation Sindoor, describing it as a “finest example” of India’s military resolve. Although the specific details of the operation remain undisclosed, Shah praised it as a demonstration of the nation’s defense readiness and technological capabilities.

Vice-Admiral Gurcharan Singh, Commandant of the NDA, echoed Shah’s views, emphasizing the unwavering dedication of the cadets and the academy's mission to instill enduring values beyond the battlefield.
