Shri Aloke Kumar Chakraborty, IPS, has assumed the role of Inspector General (IG) of the Tripura Frontier for the Border Security Force (BSF), marking a significant transition in leadership. He steps into this position following Shri A. K. Sharma, IG, who has been reassigned to Manipur.
The formal handover was commemorated with a ceremonial event at the BSF Frontier Headquarters in Salbagan, attended by senior officers, personnel, and staff from the BSF Tripura Frontier.
Shri Chakraborty is a distinguished officer within the BSF, having been recognized with several honors throughout his career. His accolades include the Police Medal for Meritorious Service, the UNMIK Medal for his role in United Nations peacekeeping efforts in Kosovo, and the Ati Utkrisht Sewa Padak for his exceptional contributions to national security and border management.
His career is marked by a range of challenging roles across operational, instructional, and administrative areas. He has extensive experience on both the Indo-Bangladesh and Indo-Pakistan borders, the Line of Control, and in anti-Naxal operations in difficult terrains. His leadership and dedication to upholding professional standards have garnered him considerable respect within the force.

In his new role as Inspector General of the Tripura Frontier, Shri Chakraborty will be responsible for overseeing operations along the crucial Indo-Bangladesh international border. This area is a focal point for efforts to prevent cross-border crimes, infiltration, and smuggling. His leadership is anticipated to enhance operational effectiveness, improve coordination with local law enforcement, and boost the welfare and morale of BSF personnel stationed in remote border regions.
Located in Salbagan, Agartala, the BSF Tripura Frontier is tasked with guarding a significant portion of the India-Bangladesh border. The Frontier's responsibilities include ensuring security, preventing illegal infiltration, and maintaining peace in border communities. It also engages in civic action programs and welfare initiatives to strengthen ties between the BSF and local residents.
