Air Marshal Samir Jayasinha Pendse Appointed SASO of IAF Training Command

Air Marshal Samir Jayasinha Pendse has assumed the role of Senior Air Staff Officer (SASO) at the Indian Air Force's Training Command, effective December 1, 2025. This is a significant development in the leadership framework of the IAF's training and operational segments.

A graduate of the National Defence Academy, Air Marshal Pendse began his career in the Flying (Pilot) branch of the Indian Air Force on December 16, 1989, as a helicopter pilot. His remarkable career spans over 36 years, during which he has accumulated more than 5,100 hours of flying without incidents, underscoring his exceptional skill and professionalism in aviation.

Throughout his service, Air Marshal Pendse has held numerous command and staff roles. His leadership experience includes commanding two IAF bases, an Advance Headquarters, and a frontline helicopter unit. Additionally, he was part of a United Nations Mission in Sudan, where he contributed to peacekeeping and humanitarian efforts.

Air Marshal Pendse is also an alumnus of the National Defence College (NDC) in Dhaka. Prior to his current appointment, he served as the Inspector General (Air) of the Border Security Force (BSF), where he played a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing the operational efficiency of the MHA Air Wing's Aviation Arm.

In recognition of his courage and distinguished service, he has been honored with the Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry) in 1997 and the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2015 by the President of India.

His new role as SASO, Training Command is anticipated to significantly enhance the IAF's training programs, operational readiness, and the development of future air force personnel.
