Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari Retires as Vice Chief of the Indian Air Staff
Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari, who served as the Vice Chief of the Air Staff, concluded his service in the Indian Air Force on December 31, 2025. His retirement follows a commendable career spanning over forty years, marked by significant contributions to national defense.
Since his commissioning into the Indian Air Force on June 7, 1986, Air Marshal Tiwari distinguished himself as a skilled fighter and test pilot. Throughout his career, he demonstrated operational prowess, strategic leadership, and professional expertise, holding vital command and staff positions that enhanced the IAF's operational readiness and strategic evolution.

In one of his notable roles, Air Marshal Tiwari served as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the South Western Air Command. During this tenure, he managed key operational units and played a crucial role in fortifying combat preparedness and joint operations coordination.
An alumnus of esteemed institutions such as the Rashtriya Indian Military College, the National Defence Academy, and the US Air Command and Staff College, Air Marshal Tiwari embodied academic excellence and operational leadership throughout his career.

His outstanding service earned him several prestigious awards, including the Shaurya Yudh Seva Medal (SYSM), Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM), Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM), and the Vayu Sena Medal (VM).
As Vice Chief of the Air Staff, he had a significant impact on policy formation, capability enhancement, and operational planning within the Air Force.
