Air Marshal Inderpal Singh Walia Takes Charge of Eastern Air Command, Indian Air Force
On February 1, 2026, Air Marshal Inderpal Singh Walia took over as the head of the Eastern Air Command of the Indian Air Force. A graduate of the National Defence Academy (NDA), Air Marshal Walia was commissioned as a fighter pilot on June 11, 1988. His impressive career is marked by over 3,200 flying hours across various fighter aircraft, underscoring his extensive operational flying expertise.

Throughout his service, Air Marshal Walia has led a fighter squadron, the Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment (TACDE), and numerous significant Indian Air Force bases. He has also undertaken various critical roles in staff and command at Air Headquarters and other Command Headquarters, playing a key role in operational planning and force development.

Air Marshal Walia's international experience includes serving as Defence Attaché to Japan and South Korea, where he contributed to enhancing defence cooperation and military diplomacy.
With his extensive experience in operations, command, and diplomacy, Air Marshal Inderpal Singh Walia's leadership is anticipated to further boost the operational readiness and strategic focus of the Eastern Air Command.
