Air Chief Marshal Visits Pune's Artificial Limb Centre, Honors Injured Operation Sindoor Veteran

Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, the Chief of the Air Staff, visited Pune's Artificial Limb Centre today, where he met with Corporal Varun Kumar, an airman injured during Operation Sindoor. This operation, initiated on May 7, 2025, was a strategic response to terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, following the tragic Pahalgam massacre that resulted in the deaths of 15 civilians and injured 43 others.

The visit underscored the human impact of the persistent India-Pakistan tensions. Operation Sindoor represented a significant escalation, involving precision strikes by the Indian Air Force. However, the casualty figures from these strikes have not been independently verified, raising concerns among analysts that these unconfirmed numbers might obscure operational issues.

During the visit, the Artificial Limb Centre, renowned for serving all three military services, demonstrated its cutting-edge prosthetic technologies. According to a study published in Military Medicine, the use of modern prosthetics has led to a 30% improvement in recovery outcomes for soldiers with limb injuries. The Chief of the Air Staff commended the centre’s commandant, medical personnel, and staff for their dedication, emphasizing the centre's vital role in assisting injured servicemen to either reintegrate into civilian life or return to active duty.

The event highlighted the core themes of sacrifice, resilience, and technological advancement in military rehabilitation, all set against the backdrop of ongoing regional security challenges.
