8th Central Pay Commission Delegation Conducts Engagement with Pune Air Force Station
An 8th Central Pay Commission delegation, headed by Pankaj Jain, IAS and the Commission's Member Secretary, visited Air Force Station Pune on May 3, 2026. The purpose of this visit was to gain a direct understanding of the operational environment within the Indian Air Force.

The delegation was welcomed by Air Commodore Satbir Singh Rai, Air Officer Commanding at Air Force Station Pune, alongside Air Commodore MK Anwer Shakir, Air Officer Commanding of the 9 Base Repair Depot. Senior officers provided a briefing on the hazardous nature of military flying operations and the challenges encountered by both aircrew and ground staff.

The visit's objective was to acquaint the Commission with the essential tasks carried out by units such as Air Traffic Control, Rescue and Fire Fighting services, and maintenance teams, which are crucial for flight safety and mission success.

During their tour, the delegation inspected fighter and missile squadrons, radar units, and maintenance facilities. They also received briefings on regular testing procedures, safety measures, and the operational readiness standards upheld by the Indian Air Force.
This visit offered valuable insights into the complexities of air operations, which are anticipated to aid the Pay Commission in making well-informed decisions concerning service conditions and compensation structures for defence personnel.
