82nd Staff Course Begins at DSSC Wellington: Over 500 Officers Engage in Advanced Military Training
The Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) in Wellington initiated its 82nd Staff Course on June 1, 2026. This prestigious programme gathers over 500 officers from the Indian Armed Forces and allied foreign nations, marking an essential part of the country's advanced military education offerings.
The course was officially opened by Lieutenant General Manish Erry, the Commandant of DSSC. In his inaugural speech, he addressed officers from the Tri-Services along with 49 officers representing friendly foreign countries.

During his address, Lt Gen Erry emphasized the swiftly changing global security dynamics. He pointed out the necessity for military leaders to be adaptable and proactive amidst technological advancements and evolving warfare techniques.
He further stressed the importance of cultivating leaders who can effectively tackle new geopolitical challenges and leverage technological innovations to sustain operational efficiency across various military domains.

The staff course is tailored to prepare mid-career military officers for advanced command and staff roles by deepening their knowledge in areas such as operational art, military strategy, joint operations, and national security concerns.
