116 Infantry Battalion (TA) PARA Awarded COAS Silver Trophy on Territorial Army's 76th Anniversary

In celebration of the 76th Territorial Army Day, General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff, presented the esteemed Chief of the Army Staff Silver Trophy to the 116 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) PARA. This recognition was bestowed upon the battalion for its exemplary operational performance, discipline, and significant contributions to national security, both in peacetime and during active operations.
The Territorial Army, often known as the "Citizen's Army," plays a crucial role in supporting the regular Army. It provides assistance during natural disasters, handles internal security duties, and fulfills various operational roles. The recognition of the 116 Infantry Battalion (TA) PARA underscores the high standards of training, preparedness, and dedication exhibited by the unit's officers and soldiers.
Terrier Cyber Quest: Fostering Cyber Excellence
During the event, General Dwivedi also honored the winners of the 'Terrier Cyber Quest,' a national-level Cyber Challenge that garnered significant participation from across India. Over 6,300 teams and 10,000 individuals from sectors such as academic institutions, industries, and the Defence Forces took part in the competition.

The challenge included two segments: 'Bug Hunt' and 'Datathon,' aimed at identifying and nurturing young talent in cybersecurity and data analytics. Following multiple stages of rigorous screening, 27 teams qualified for the 36-hour Grand Finale, held from October 6 to 8, 2025. The finalists presented innovative solutions addressing real-world cyber threats, data protection, and AI-driven security models.
Strengthening India’s Cyber Preparedness
The Terrier Cyber Quest highlights the Indian Army’s increasing focus on developing cyber capabilities and technological innovation. By engaging students, professionals, and defense personnel, the initiative seeks to cultivate a robust national cybersecurity culture, raise awareness, and integrate advanced technologies into defense applications.
