10 Vietnamese Officers Visit NDA Khadakwasla, Learn India’s Tri-Service Training Model

Pune, October 23, 2026: A delegation of ten young military officers from Vietnam visited the National Defence Academy (NDA) at Khadakwasla in Pune, where they were introduced to India’s premier tri-service military training institution and its approach to preparing future officers for the Army, Navy and Air Force.

The visit offered the Vietnamese officers a close look at the NDA’s training model, which brings cadets from the three services together under one framework. The academy’s philosophy centres on jointmanship, discipline, leadership and military professionalism, forming the core of its training programme.

The delegation was also briefed on the inclusion of women cadets in the academy’s training environment. This reflects both the changing role of women in India’s Armed Forces and NDA’s effort to train future officers through a shared military experience.

During the interaction, the Vietnamese officers met NDA instructors and staff, allowing both sides to exchange views on military training practices, leadership development and professional military education. The discussions provided an opportunity to compare their respective systems and share experiences on officer training.

The engagement also pointed to the growing defence relationship between India and Vietnam, which have maintained longstanding diplomatic and strategic ties. In recent years, the two countries have steadily expanded cooperation through military exchanges, training programmes, capacity-building initiatives and other bilateral engagements designed to deepen their strategic partnership.

The visit by the ten officers added to that pattern of engagement, with military education and professional exchanges continuing to serve as an important channel for strengthening ties between the armed forces of both countries.

The National Defence Academy, located at Khadakwasla near Pune, is India’s premier joint services training institution. Cadets of the Army, Navy and Air Force undergo foundational military and academic training at the academy before moving on to their respective service academies for specialised instruction.
