Western Command Enhances Drone Warfare Capabilities in "Gagan Vijay" Exercise

The Indian Army's Western Command has completed successful validation trials of domestically developed armed drones during the ongoing "Gagan Vijay" exercise. These drones, designed for effective operation in high-threat and contested electronic warfare scenarios, can deliver lethal payloads with precision, marking a significant step forward in India's indigenous military drone capabilities.
Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, PVSM, AVSM, who is the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Command, personally reviewed the trials. He praised the innovators responsible for the drone development, highlighting that these systems enhance the Army's operational strength and lethality. He underscored the necessity for continuous adaptation to emerging threats and the ever-evolving dynamics of warfare.
The "Gagan Vijay" exercise forms part of the Indian Army's broader strategy to boost combat readiness and adapt to modern warfare landscapes where unmanned systems are increasingly crucial. The successful incorporation of armed drones into field exercises demonstrates the Indian Army's commitment to leading the charge in potential future conflicts.
The trials represent not only the Army's move towards a more technologically integrated force but also bolster the broader goal of achieving self-reliance in defense manufacturing. This initiative supports national ambitions outlined in the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat missions, strengthening India's defense readiness through indigenous innovations.
