US B-2 Bombers Deployed to Guam Amid Heightened Tensions with Iran

A squadron of six U.S. Air Force B-2 Spirit stealth bombers has been observed heading to Guam from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, just hours before President Donald Trump's expected return to the White House. Based on flight tracking data and communications with air traffic control, it appears the bombers refueled midair, suggesting a potentially heavy payload on board.
Military analysts speculate that these aircraft might be carrying GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators, commonly known as bunker-buster bombs. These munitions are uniquely designed to target deeply buried nuclear sites like Iran's Fordow facility. The B-2 is the only aircraft in the U.S. military capable of transporting these 15-ton bombs.
Mark Dubowitz, CEO of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, commented, “Destroying Fordow from the air is a job only the U.S. can do.” Jonathan Ruhe, Director of Foreign Policy at JINSA, further explained that these bombs are specifically engineered to penetrate deep underground layers of earth, rock, and reinforced concrete before detonating to neutralize fortified targets.
This military movement aligns with President Trump’s planned intelligence briefings this weekend with the National Security Council. Trump is anticipated to decide on possible U.S. involvement in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.
This situation arises in the wake of Trump's public disagreement with Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who had testified in March that Iran was not actively pursuing nuclear weapons. However, Trump asserted that Iran is "very close" to developing one and that the U.S. "won’t let it happen." Gabbard later clarified her stance, noting that Iran could produce a nuclear weapon "within weeks to months" if it chooses to continue.
In parallel, the State Department announced new sanctions targeting eight entities and one individual involved in procuring proliferation-sensitive equipment from China for Iran’s defense industry.
These swift developments underscore the escalating concern in the U.S. over Iran potentially achieving nuclear weapons capability and indicate that Washington is preparing all possible measures, including military action, to prevent this outcome.
