UK F-35B Jet Diverted to India Undergoes Repairs After Technical Issue

An F-35B fighter jet from the United Kingdom, which was diverted to Thiruvananthapuram International Airport due to unfavorable weather, is undergoing repairs after encountering a technical issue while on the ground.
A representative from the British High Commission stated that the aircraft, unable to return to its carrier, HMS Prince of Wales, due to weather conditions, was diverted to ensure the pilot's safety. Although it landed without incident, the F-35B developed a technical fault necessitating the involvement of a specialized engineering team from the UK.
Initial assessments by the engineering crew on HMS Prince of Wales indicated that resolving the issue would require specific equipment and expertise from the UK. Currently, there is no timeline available for the completion of the repairs.
To ensure that airport operations remain unaffected, the fighter jet will be relocated to the Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility once the necessary equipment and personnel arrive from the UK.
The British authorities have expressed their gratitude for the support received from Indian officials. "We thank the Indian Authorities for their continued support," said a British High Commission spokesperson.
It has been confirmed that the UK has been in close coordination with the Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, and Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. The British High Commission highlighted that the successful landing, logistical arrangements, and ongoing security support exemplify the robust military collaboration between the UK and India.
