Surg Vice Admiral Vivek Hande, AVSM, VSM has taken on the role of Director General (Organisation & Personnel) within the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) at the office of the Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) today.

The Flag Officer, an alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College and the National Defence College, is a renowned Physician and Gastroenterologist in India. His career has been marked by a blend of clinical expertise and administrative leadership, establishing him as a prominent figure in his field.

Before stepping into his current position, Surg Vice Admiral Vivek Hande served as the Senior Consultant (Medicine) in the DGAFMS office. His extensive service record includes key roles such as Executive Officer and later Commanding Officer of INHS Asvini, Mumbai, a leading medical facility of the Indian Navy.

Surg Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, Director General Armed Forces Medical Services, extended her congratulations to the Flag Officer for attaining the rank of Vice Admiral and assuming the significant appointment. This event represents a crucial advancement in bolstering leadership at the highest level of AFMS, which remains essential in delivering comprehensive medical support to the Armed Forces during both peace and wartime.
