Indian Army shooter Subedar Ravinder Singh of the Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) won two medals at the ISSF World Championship 2026 in Doha, Qatar, claiming team gold in the men’s 50m Free Pistol event and silver in the individual competition.

The medals came on November 3, 2026, at a championship that is being held in Doha from November 1 to 14 and features elite shooters from around the world. Ravinder Singh’s results placed him among the standout Indian performers at the event, where the country also picked up a silver in the women’s 10m air rifle team event through Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar and Shambhavi Kshirsagar.

In the men’s 50m pistol team event, Ravinder Singh teamed up with Saurabh Chaudhary and Amanpreet Singh to secure gold for India. The trio combined for 1,659 points, including 24 inner tens, to finish ahead of China, which took silver with 1,648 points. South Korea won bronze with 1,643 points.

Ravinder Singh led the Indian scoreline with 559 points and 11 inner tens. Chaudhary followed with 551 points, while Amanpreet Singh contributed 549 points to the winning total.

He then carried that form into the individual men’s 50m Free Pistol contest, where he shot 559 points to earn silver. He finished just two points behind Anton Aristarkhov, who competed as an Authorised Neutral Athlete and won gold with 561 points. Romania’s Luca Joldea took bronze with 558 points.

Ravinder Singh represents the Indian Army’s Army Marksmanship Unit, a formation focused on identifying and developing skilled military shooters for national and international competition. His double-medal performance in Doha adds to the Indian Army’s record of sporting success and reflects the role played by the AMU in nurturing shooters at the highest level.

The Indian Army congratulated him on the achievement, saying his success reflected the discipline, dedication and determination shown by Army personnel. The result also adds to the growing contribution of Indian Armed Forces athletes in international shooting events.

For Ravinder Singh, the Doha campaign marks a major moment in his sporting career and another notable result for the Indian Army on the world stage. His performance offers further evidence of the depth of India’s shooting talent and the impact of sustained training and competition exposure.
