PM Modi Turns Down Trump's Impromptu Invitation to Washington After Canada Trip

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declined an impromptu invitation from US President Donald Trump to visit Washington after his official visit to Canada, citing prior commitments in India. This information was confirmed by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri during a press briefing.
Misri explained, "President Trump asked Prime Minister Modi if he could make a stop in the United States on his way back from Canada. Due to pre-scheduled commitments, Prime Minister Modi expressed his inability to do so."
The invitation from the White House reportedly came just before President Trump abruptly left the G7 Summit to return to Washington, prompted by rising tensions between Israel and Iran. Although the exact nature of Modi's commitments was not revealed, sources suggest that important domestic meetings and preparations for upcoming bilateral talks may have influenced his decision.
Indian officials have stated that both leaders continue to communicate through diplomatic channels and that a visit will be arranged in the future when it is convenient for both parties. This interaction between Modi and Trump occurs at a pivotal moment in global geopolitics, with increasing tensions in West Asia and major nations reassessing their foreign policy strategies.
