PM Modi Clarifies Global Stance on India’s Operation Sindoor During Missile Conflict

Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed the Lok Sabha that no international leader requested India to halt its military actions during Operation Sindoor. He emphasized that Pakistan sought a ceasefire after facing significant losses in the missile exchanges that occurred on May 9 and 10.

During a discussion regarding the Pahalgam terror attack and India's subsequent military actions, PM Modi remarked, “We maintained from the beginning that our actions were non-escalatory. No global leader asked us to cease. On May 9, even when US Vice President JD Vance attempted to reach me repeatedly, I was engaged in a meeting with the armed forces. Later, I conveyed to him that if Pakistan were to attack, it would bear severe consequences.”

Modi also criticized Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi for questioning why the government hadn't refuted former US President Donald Trump's assertions about mediating a ceasefire. He stated, “Pakistan now understands that our response will surpass their actions. Operation Sindoor continues, and if Pakistan attempts anything further, India is prepared to go to any lengths.”

The Prime Minister noted that India's primary objective of dismantling terror camps was achieved on May 7. However, he blamed Pakistan's defense of these camps for escalating the situation further. He highlighted that Indian missiles targeted all regions of Pakistan on May 9 and 10, leaving their military significantly weakened.

Recalling Pakistan's plea for a ceasefire, Modi mentioned, “Their DGMO reached out to ours and pleaded—‘Stop, we've been hit hard, we can't endure more. Please halt the attack’.” He stressed that the decision to cease was India's, taken only after achieving its military aims.

Modi concluded by asserting that this incident has altered Pakistan's perception of India's strategic stance and that this shift has been observed by the international community, not just India.
