NCC and NIELIT Introduce Cyber Security Training Initiative for Cadets Nationwide

The National Cadet Corps (NCC), in partnership with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), has unveiled a comprehensive Cyber Security Capacity Building Programme. This nationwide initiative aims to endow cadets with critical digital skills and cyber defence capabilities.

The launch of this programme was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), attended by DG NCC Virendra Vats and DG NIELIT Madan Mohan Tripathi.

The programme is structured into two distinct phases:

Phase Description
Cyber Security Awareness Programme A 15-hour online course accessible to all NCC cadets, focusing on digital literacy, cyber hygiene, safe internet practices, and awareness of cyber threats. This module will be hosted on the NIELIT Digital University platform.
Cyber Defender Programme A rigorous 60-hour offline training for selected cadets, chosen based on merit. This phase includes hands-on training, simulations, and practical exposure to cyber tools and threat response strategies.

The programme's objective is to develop a cadre of trained NCC Cyber Cadets capable of:

Goal
Disseminating cyber awareness at a grassroots level
Promoting safe digital practices
Supporting national cyber security efforts

This initiative is designed to align with key national initiatives such as Digital India and the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), reinforcing India's commitment to skill development and cyber readiness.

In response to the growing complexity of cyber threats, this forward-thinking programme seeks to prepare young individuals for the digital challenges ahead, equipping them with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
