Meet the Brother-Sister Duo Who Became Indian Army Officers Together
In a remarkable display of perseverance, familial support, and dedication to national service, Lieutenant Mansi Dixit and Lieutenant Priyanshu Dixit, a brother-sister pair from a remote village in Uttar Pradesh's Etah district, were commissioned together as officers in the Indian Army. This historic achievement occurred during the Passing Out Parade at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai on March 7, 2026, marking them as the first individuals from their village to attain commissioned officer status in the armed forces.
Mansi Dixit, aged 25 and the elder sibling, holds an LLB degree from Delhi University. Her path to the academy proved arduous; she was recommended five times before finally securing admission. Priyanshu Dixit, aged 23 and her younger brother, completed a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and entered through the NCC Special Entry Scheme. Their shared journey at OTA transformed rigorous training into a more supportive experience, as they provided mutual encouragement and mentorship throughout the course.
The siblings' commitment to the armed forces stems from deep familial inspiration. Their father, Vijender Bahadur Dixit, a former Rashtriya Defence Corps cadet and NCC participant, harbored aspirations to serve in the military but was unable to do so due to medical unfitness. He instilled in his children a strong sense of discipline and ambition from an early age, often conducting morning tuitions and emphasizing diligence. In their words, he has now realized his unfulfilled dream through their accomplishments. Growing up in a rural setting, the duo frequently commuted 15 kilometers to school together, fostering a close bond that extended into their academic and professional pursuits.
Upon commissioning, Lieutenant Mansi Dixit has been assigned to the Army Aviation Corps, while Lieutenant Priyanshu Dixit will serve in the infantry with the Sikh Regiment. Their parallel commissioning not only fulfills personal ambitions but also serves as a powerful symbol of opportunity emerging from humble beginnings.
The siblings have described the training period as enjoyable despite its demands, attributing much of this to their sibling companionship. Lieutenant Mansi Dixit noted that her brother's presence and encouragement were pivotal in her persistence.
