A Medical Emergency at 30,000 Feet on Rails

While travelling onboard the S4 compartment of Rajdhani Express en route to Dibrugarh, an unexpected crisis unfolded around 4:30 pm. An infant suddenly developed severe respiratory distress and became unresponsive. The child’s mother fainted in panic, believing her baby had died, while chaos erupted in the compartment as passengers rushed to help.

Amid the commotion, Sepoy Sunil, who was returning from leave, sprang into action. Drawing upon his medical training, he quickly assessed the situation with calm precision.

Life-Saving Action Under Pressure

Finding no pulse or breathing, Sepoy Sunil immediately initiated paediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). He gently placed the baby on a flat surface and began chest compressions using two fingers, alternating with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. After two cycles of CPR, the infant began to show faint signs of life a miraculous moment that brought relief and tears of joy to everyone present.

Rajdhani is fully air-conditioned train. Hence coach S4 which is 3tier non ac coach is not possible. Such mistakes/oversights make the write-up less trustworthy.
