Meet Harsimran Kaur: From JEE Aspirant to NDA Trailblazer

“I was preparing for JEE, NDA came as a blessing” – Cadet Harsimran Kaur
In a moment that marked history, the National Defence Academy (NDA), for the first time since its inception, witnessed the Passing Out Parade of 17 remarkable women cadets who completed the rigorous three-year training alongside their male counterparts. Among them stood Cadet Harsimran Kaur, a young woman from Punjab, whose journey to this moment is nothing short of inspirational.
Harsimran hails from a proud military family. Her father served as a Havildar in the Indian Army, and both her paternal and maternal grandfathers wore the uniform with pride. Military discipline, patriotism, and a sense of duty are values she inherited naturally—but her journey to NDA wasn’t a straightforward one.
“I was actually preparing for JEE Mains,” she recalls. “Then NDA came in between as a blessing.”
It was a friend who informed Harsimran that women were now eligible to apply for NDA—something that was unthinkable just a few years ago. In 2021, the Supreme Court of India ruled that women could appear for the NDA exam, opening doors that had been closed for decades.
Motivated by curiosity and the desire to do something meaningful, Harsimran decided to take a leap of faith. With no prior preparation aimed at military service, she relied on her inner strength and belief.
“I just want to say that don’t be afraid of anything,” she said. “You can do whatever you want—just believe in yourself and go for it.”
Harsimran and her fellow women cadets were part of the NDA’s 148th course, the very first to include female aspirants. They endured the same rigorous physical training, academic rigor, and leadership development that has shaped generations of male officers. Their resilience not only challenged stereotypes but also carved a new path for countless girls who now dream of a career in uniform.
Her journey from a JEE aspirant to an NDA graduate mirrors the evolving landscape of the Indian Armed Forces—a force slowly but surely embracing gender inclusion. With over 9,000 women officers already serving as of 2021, the NDA’s inclusion of women cadets marks a pivotal cultural shift.
Harsimran’s story is more than personal success—it’s a testament to hope, courage, and change. It’s a reminder that while paths may change, determination will always find its destination.
Cadet Harsimran Kaur’s story will resonate for years to come—not just in the parade grounds of the NDA, but in the hearts of young Indian women dreaming of donning the uniform. Her story is a shining example of how belief in oneself, a bit of courage, and the will to step into the unknown can turn destiny into legacy.

Careful , see that she does not crash the Rafale
It is historical change in male dominated Armed Forces. Our girls have proved that they are no less than their male counterparts in regrous training like NDA. Proud moment for entire nation. Jai Hind.

Lakhs of NCC cadets qualified NCC ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificate every year but rarest of rare gets commission in defence forces. Whereas almost candidates who has family background in defence services are getting jobs in defence services. Lakhs of true soldiers(NCC cadets) having full patriotism and disciplined NCC trained and medically fit cadets who has not related to defence family background are searching jobs and walking on the roads without any jobs and compelled to live in the indiscipline and corrupt society.
Lakhs of NCC cadets qualified NCC ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificate every year but rarest of rare gets commission in defence forces.
