Meet Harshita Kadian: Secures AIR-3 in UPSC CDS 2024, Fulfills Grandfather’s Dream

In a country where courage meets conviction, Harshita Kadian from Rohtak has emerged as a shining example of perseverance and purpose. Securing All India Rank 3 in the prestigious Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination 2025, Harshita is all set to wear the olive green and serve the nation as a commissioned officer in the Indian Army.

A Journey Rooted in Dreams and Determination

Harshita’s story is not just about academic excellence—it’s about honoring a legacy. Hailing from a modest yet academically inclined family in Hisar, Harshita was inspired by her grandfather, Ran Singh, a retired PWD Superintendent, who always envisioned her becoming a gazetted officer. Her grandmother, Omwati Devi, a retired Hindi teacher, and her parents, Ashok and Kiran Kadian, who run an English and IELTS academy, have been the pillars of her support system.

Educated at O.P. Jindal Modern School, Hisar, and later graduating with History Honours from Delhi University, Harshita’s academic record has always mirrored her dedication and discipline. But beyond books and degrees was a bigger dream—to serve the nation in uniform.

“Hard Work and Self-Belief” – Her Mantra for Success

Speaking to the media after her result was announced, Harshita said,

“The respect for the army uniform has always lived in my heart. My grandfather dreamt of this day, and today, my family’s pride is my greatest reward. Two things have always stayed with me – hard work and self-belief.”

After clearing the written examination, Harshita appeared for the SSB Interview at Prayagraj, where she showcased not only her intellect but her leadership qualities, mental resilience, and officer-like qualities (OLQs)—ultimately securing a spot among India’s top CDS candidates.

Harshita’s success is more than a personal milestone. It’s a symbol of rising women empowerment in India's armed forces. As more women break into combat roles and frontline responsibilities, Harshita’s achievement becomes a beacon for thousands of young girls across India—especially from rural and semi-urban areas—who dare to dream differently.

“Her selection is a proud moment not just for Haryana, but for the entire country,” said a senior defence official. “She represents the new face of India’s youth—ambitious, prepared, and patriotic.”

More Than a Rank, A Responsibility

At just 24, Harshita is poised to become a leader, a soldier, and a role model. Her journey is proof that roots in rural India can lead to wings of glory, provided they are watered with education, values, and unwavering resolve.

She Dreamed, She Conquered!

Harshita Kadian isn’t just joining the Indian Army—
She’s joining the league of young Indians redefining what it means to serve, lead, and inspire.

Let her story echo in every home where a girl dreams of donning the uniform. Because dreams backed by action can indeed build a stronger nation.
