Major General Vivek Tyagi Appointed as ADG of NCC Maharashtra Directorate

Major General Vivek Tyagi has taken on the role of Additional Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Maharashtra Directorate. He brings with him an extensive background of over 35 years in the Indian Army.

With a wealth of experience, General Tyagi has previously led multinational peacekeeping forces under the United Nations, garnering international commendation for his leadership skills. A UN report has underscored the effectiveness of Indian officers on global missions under his command. Prior to his current position, he was the Additional Director General of West Bengal and Sikkim, where he initiated youth development programs aligned with the NCC’s 'Sashaktyuva' vision, benefiting over a million cadets each year.

During his inaugural address in Mumbai, General Tyagi commended the NCC Maharashtra Directorate for maintaining high standards and encouraged both cadets and staff to persist in upholding the Nation First ethos. His leadership is anticipated to further the NCC’s longstanding legacy, which includes significant contributions during the 1962 Sino-Indian War and subsequent conflicts when trained cadets served as a vital secondary defense line.

The NCC, recognized as the world's largest uniformed youth organization, is dedicated to instilling character, discipline, and leadership skills among students. Under General Tyagi’s direction, the Maharashtra Directorate is poised to enhance its efforts in nation-building and the empowerment of youth.
