Major General Atul Seth Assumes Role as Dean and Deputy Commandant of Pune's Armed Forces Medical College

Major General Atul Seth, VSM, has taken on the role of Dean and Deputy Commandant at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune today.

Major General Seth, an alumnus of AFMC, joined the Armed Forces in 1992 and has accumulated over three decades of notable service. Specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, with a focus on minimal access surgery and urogynaecology, he holds an MD from AFMC and an M.Phil in Defence and Strategic Studies from the National Defence College in New Delhi.

In recognition of his outstanding service, he received the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2022. His extensive career encompasses clinical work, research, and healthcare administration, positioning him well to guide AFMC through its next chapter of advanced training and medical innovation.

Established in 1948 and affiliated with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, AFMC has graduated over 6,000 doctors and remains a key institution in military medical education. Recently, the college has expanded its graduate programs and enhanced its facilities, including the development of WiFi-enabled hostels.

As AFMC experiences increased demand for specialized training, Major General Seth's leadership is poised to enhance both the academic and clinical stature of the institution on a global scale.
