Dras, Ladakh, July 25: The 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorations commenced on Saturday with a solemn Yudh Sansmaran ceremony at the Lamochen View Point in Dras. This location, overlooking the historic battlegrounds of the 1999 Kargil War, was where Indian soldiers showcased extraordinary bravery, defending the nation's sovereignty.

In a deeply emotional and patriotic setting, the event gathered serving soldiers, senior Army officials, Kargil War veterans, Veer Naris, Veer Matas, and families of the fallen heroes. Against the backdrop of the rugged Himalayas, attendees paid tribute to the soldiers whose ultimate sacrifices secured India's victory in the Kargil War.

Maj Gen Amit Prakash Singh, General Officer Commanding Forever in Operations Division, led the event with other senior Army officials. They offered floral tributes to honor the martyrs who lost their lives reclaiming strategically significant heights from enemy forces during Operation Vijay.

One of the highlights was the recognition of the Next of Kin of the Kargil heroes. Family members shared poignant memories of their loved ones, highlighting their courage, patriotism, and dedication.
