Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera Reviews Operations at IGAR North, Inaugurates Kohima Sports Complex
Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, the Director General of Assam Rifles, visited the Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) in Kohima, Nagaland, on March 6, 2026. The purpose of the visit was to assess the operational readiness and review the welfare initiatives for the troops.

During his visit, Lt Gen Lakhera received a detailed briefing on the current security situation, highlighting the force's operational preparedness and ongoing welfare programs for personnel stationed in the region. These discussions emphasized the critical role of the Assam Rifles in maintaining peace and security in the northeastern region of India.
The General took the opportunity to meet with personnel across all ranks, commending them for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to their duties in challenging conditions.

He stressed the importance of fostering a strong relationship between the security forces and the local communities, underscoring that such synergy is vital for maintaining long-term peace and stability in the area.
As part of efforts to improve troop welfare, Lt Gen Lakhera inaugurated a new Sports Complex at Kohima Garrison. This facility, accessible to all ranks, aims to enhance physical fitness, discipline, and sportsmanship among the troops.

The visit reiterated the Assam Rifles' dedication to both operational excellence and the welfare of its personnel, reinforcing its status as a pivotal security force in the Northeast.
