Lt Gen Vijay B Nair Evaluates Security and Technological Integration in South Kashmir

Lieutenant General Vijay B Nair, the Chief of Staff of the Northern Command, paid a visit to South Kashmir on Thursday with the objective of assessing the security measures and operational readiness of frontline units within the Chinar Corps. His visit included detailed briefings focused on the current security situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and the internal security challenges prevalent in the region.

During the visit, Lt Gen Nair engaged with troops stationed in forward positions, recognizing their steadfast dedication, professional conduct, and high morale. He stressed the importance of maintaining operational alertness, rigorous training, and adaptability to effectively address emerging threats.

In addition, he assessed the technological advancements employed by the Army, particularly AI-based surveillance tools and integrated sensor systems, which are crucial in enhancing situational awareness and bolstering counter-infiltration efforts.

This visit is set against a backdrop of heightened security awareness in Kashmir, following a series of successful operations carried out by the Chinar Corps that have resulted in the elimination of terror threats and the disruption of insurgent networks in recent months.

Lt Gen Nair’s presence and directives were perceived as a significant morale boost for the troops operating in difficult terrains and high-risk areas. His focus on adaptability and technological integration highlights the Army’s evolving strategy in modern hybrid warfare.

The Northern Command, which has been restructured since 1972 to manage India's sensitive borders with Pakistan and China, plays a crucial role in strategic military operations. This inspection follows a previous review by the Vajra Division on July 3, indicating a continuous emphasis on maintaining high readiness levels across commands.

Lt Gen Nair, an experienced officer and graduate of the NDA and IMA, brings extensive expertise in counter-insurgency and high-altitude operations. His leadership continues to instill confidence in India's capability to safeguard its interests and maintain peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
