Lt Gen Pratik Sharma Chairs Srinagar Security Review on Intelligence Sharing, Joint Readiness

Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, Army Commander, Northern Command, chaired a Security Review and Coordination Meeting in Srinagar to assess the prevailing security situation, operational preparedness and coordination among the agencies involved in the region’s security architecture.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders and served as a forum to review the current security environment, examine the readiness of forces on the ground and evaluate how effectively different agencies were working together. The focus was on maintaining a high level of preparedness and ensuring that coordination mechanisms remained effective in the face of emerging challenges.

During the review, Lt Gen Sharma examined inputs on the security situation and the steps being taken to address possible threats. Discussions also covered operational readiness, response mechanisms and the functioning of existing coordination arrangements among the participating agencies.

Lt Gen Sharma stressed the need for stronger inter-agency synergy to reinforce the overall security framework. He said seamless coordination between security and intelligence agencies is essential for building a fuller picture of the security environment and for responding quickly when situations develop.

He also reiterated the importance of real-time intelligence sharing among stakeholders. According to him, timely dissemination and integration of actionable intelligence are crucial for helping security forces anticipate threats, improve situational awareness and mount coordinated responses.

The meeting underlined the value of integrated coordination and joint operational preparedness. Close cooperation and effective information exchange, the Army Commander noted, can support faster decision-making, improve response times and strengthen the effectiveness of joint operations.

The emphasis on quick response mechanisms comes amid the need for security agencies to remain prepared for dynamic and evolving challenges. Better interoperability and coordinated planning, the meeting noted, can help ensure that resources and capabilities are used efficiently during security contingencies.

Lt Gen Pratik Sharma called on all stakeholders to maintain a high level of vigilance and continue strengthening existing coordination mechanisms. He said sustained cooperation, timely intelligence sharing and operational synergy will remain central to maintaining security and responding effectively to emerging threats.

The meeting reaffirmed Northern Command’s focus on operational preparedness through close inter-agency cooperation, integrated planning and real-time information exchange.
