Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava Reviews RVC Centre & College’s Military Veterinary, K9 and Equine Capabilities
Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava, UYSM, AVSM, SM, QMG, IHQ of MoD (Army), visited the Remount Veterinary Corps (RVC) Centre & College on August 27, 2026, to assess its specialised military veterinary, K9 and equine capabilities and review the institution’s ongoing training and infrastructure development.
During the visit, the Quarter Master General was briefed on the Centre & College’s current activities, with emphasis on advanced training, capability development and the modern facilities supporting the operational employment and care of military animals. The review covered the institution’s work across military veterinary services, canine operations and equine support.
The RVC Centre & College plays a key role in building professional expertise and sustaining standards in military veterinary services. Its training infrastructure and specialised facilities are designed to prepare personnel and animal assets for the demanding requirements of military operations, where trained animals continue to support a range of tasks.
Lt Gen Srivastava also reviewed the institution’s efforts to modernise its training methods and infrastructure. The focus on contemporary practices and improved facilities reflects the Army’s wider effort to keep specialised institutions aligned with changing operational requirements.
The visit highlighted the increasing operational value of trained military working dogs, particularly in surveillance, detection and specialised support roles. It also drew attention to the continuing place of equine capabilities in the Army’s operational support system as well as its ceremonial traditions.
The QMG appreciated the professionalism and dedication of the personnel at the RVC Centre & College and acknowledged their contribution to maintaining high standards in military veterinary and animal-based operational capabilities.
