It offers a prestigious year-long course attended by selected one-star officers from the armed forces, senior civil servants at the Joint Secretary rank, and about 25 officers from friendly foreign countries such as the US, UK, France, Germany, Australia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and the UAE. NDC plays a crucial role as a think tank for the Indian government, contributing to policy development and strategic perspectives on national and international security issues.

The collaboration between IMA and NDC highlights the continuity in leadership development within India's Armed Forces, from the foundational training in Dehradun to strategic-level education in New Delhi. This ensures that future military leaders are prepared to tackle emerging global security challenges with assurance and clarity.
