Lt Gen Man Raj Singh Mann Reviews Trishakti Corps Mission-Oriented Training in South Sikkim
Sikkim, October 15, 2026: Lieutenant General Man Raj Singh Mann, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Indian Army’s Trishakti Corps, reviewed mission-oriented training carried out by troops in South Sikkim, with the exercise designed to sharpen operational readiness and combat effectiveness in the demanding mountain environment.
The training was held under realistic operational conditions and focused on testing and improving the soldiers’ ability to deal with evolving battlefield challenges. According to the source, the drill was intended not just as a routine exercise, but as a practical assessment of how well troops could respond in difficult terrain and under operational pressure.
A key feature of the training was coordination among participating units. The exercise also placed emphasis on the integration of emerging technologies, rapid mobility and endurance in high-altitude conditions. These elements are especially relevant in mountainous areas, where rugged geography and unpredictable weather can quickly affect movement, communication and overall operational performance.
During his visit, Lt Gen Mann observed different aspects of the training and reviewed the troops’ preparedness to carry out assigned operational missions. The visit provided him an opportunity to assess how units were applying training standards in conditions that closely reflected operational realities in the region.
The exercise also reflected the Indian Army’s continued effort to blend modern technology with traditional field skills. Alongside the use of newer systems, the training continued to stress physical endurance, tactical flexibility and coordination across formations, all of which remain essential in mountain warfare.

Lt Gen Mann commended the participating soldiers for their professionalism, resilience and high standards of training. He praised their dedication to maintaining operational excellence despite the difficult terrain and challenging conditions they had to train in.
The Trishakti Corps, headquartered at Sukna in West Bengal, is responsible for the defence of strategically important areas in the eastern Himalayan region, including the sensitive Sikkim sector along the India-China border. Training of this nature is therefore closely linked to the Corps’ operational responsibilities in one of India’s most sensitive frontiers.

The mission-oriented training in South Sikkim comes as part of the Indian Army’s broader focus on sustaining combat preparedness and strengthening operational capability in the region. It is aimed at ensuring that troops remain ready to respond to emerging security challenges in high-altitude areas where operational conditions can change quickly.
